Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Keyless Ignition Switch sends a LIN bus signal to the Radio Frequency (RF) Hub. The RF Hub sends a Controller Area Network (CAN) message to the Body Control Module (BCM) which in turn activates the Run/Start relay that provides a hard wired 12 volt signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) located inside the Power Inverter Module (PIM).
