Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a Vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. NOTE: A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs. 
    4. With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
    5. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
    6. Turn the ignition on.
    7. Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    8. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
      NOTE:

      A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs. 

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To Next Step.

      No 

  2. CHECK THE BCM FOR OVERHEAD CONSOLE RELATED DTCS 
    1. Check the BCM for overhead console related DTCs.
      NOTE:

      Overhead Console related type DTCs may include U1048-00 and U114F-00. 

      Did the BCM have any related overhead console DTCs?

      Yes 

      • Perform the related Body Control Module diagnostic test.

      No 

      • Go To Next Step.
  3. VERIFY OPERATION OF THE SOS/EMERGENCY CALL BUTTON 
    NOTE:

    Make sure that the SOS/Emergency Call Button is free of debris. 

    1. With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs and record on repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    3. Press and release the SOS/Emergency Call Button three times.
    4. Wait 60 seconds.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To Next Step.

      No 

  4. VERIFY OPERATION OF THE SWITCH 
    1. Replace the Switch in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to CONSOLE, OVERHEAD, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    3. Press and release the SOS/Emergency Call Button three times.
    4. Wait 60 seconds.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      No
