Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR ANY SERVICE BULLETINS OR MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATES
- Check for any applicable Service Bulletins or Flash updates related to the DTC.
Are there any applicable Service Bulletins or Flash updates?
Yes
- Perform the applicable repair.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 2
- Check for any applicable Service Bulletins or Flash updates related to the DTC.
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR THE DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- For future reference, run and save a vehicle Scan Report and all related recorded data.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the When Monitored and Set Conditions above and recorded data, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to: TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE (J243) LOW VOLTAGE DIFFERENTIAL SIGNALING (LVDS) CABLE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE NIGHT VISION PROCESSING MODULE (NVPM) AND THE NIGHT VISION CAMERA (NVC)
- Turn the ignition off.
- Verify that the (J243) LVDS Cable connectors are completely plugged in and locked prior to disconnecting.
- Check the (J243) LVDS Cable connectors at the NVPM, NVC and any in-line connectors for the following:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Weather seal damage or signs of water intrusion.
- Bent terminals.
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
Were there any problems found?
Yes
- Repair the found issues in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- CHECK THE (J243) LVDS CABLE BETWEEN THE NVPM AND THE NVC CAUTION:
Do not attempt to insert anything other then the test leads listed below. Failure to do so can damage the terminals or LVDS cable insulation.
- Using the test leads from the Low Voltage Electrical Terminal Test Kit [special tool #2064100081] check the (J243) LVDS Cable using the test lead [special tool # 2064103080] at the Night Vision Camera (NVC) connector and the test lead [special tool # 2064103080] at the NVPM connector.
- Open or high resistance (greater than 1.0 Ohm).
- Short to ground.
- Short to voltage or another circuit.
Were any problems found with the (J243) LVDS Cable?
Yes
- Replace the (J243) LVDS Cable in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- Using the test leads from the Low Voltage Electrical Terminal Test Kit [special tool #2064100081] check the (J243) LVDS Cable using the test lead [special tool # 2064103080] at the Night Vision Camera (NVC) connector and the test lead [special tool # 2064103080] at the NVPM connector.
- CHECK THE (J244) LVDS CABLE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE NVPM AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)
- Turn the ignition off.
- Verify that the (J244) LVDS Cable connectors are completely plugged in and locked prior to disconnecting.
- Check the (J244) LVDS Cable connectors at the NVPM, IPC and any in-line connectors for the following:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Weather seal damage or signs of water intrusion.
- Bent terminals.
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
Were there any problems found?
Yes
- Repair the found issues in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 6
- CHECK THE (J244) LVDS CABLE BETWEEN THE NVPM AND THE IPC
- Using the test leads from the Low Voltage Electrical Terminal Test Kit [special tool #2064100081] check the (J244) LVDS Cable using the test lead [special tool # 2064103080] at the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector and the test lead [special tool # 2064103080] at the NVPM connector.
Check all three LVDS Cable circuits for the following:
- Open or high resistance (greater than 1.0 Ohm).
- Short to ground.
- Short to voltage or another circuit.
Were any problems found with the (J244) LVDS Cable?
Yes
- Replace the (J244) LVDS Cable in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 7
- Using the test leads from the Low Voltage Electrical Terminal Test Kit [special tool #2064100081] check the (J244) LVDS Cable using the test lead [special tool # 2064103080] at the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector and the test lead [special tool # 2064103080] at the NVPM connector.
- REPLACE THE NIGHT VISION PROCESSING MODULE (NVPM) - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- Replace the Night Vision Processing Module (NVPM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULES, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the component and Electronic Control Unit (ECU) harness connectors.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the When Monitored and Set Conditions above and recorded data, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 8
No
- Replacing the Night Vision Processing Module (NVPM) corrected the condition.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Replace the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the component and Electronic Control Unit (ECU) harness connectors.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the Environmental Data or When Monitored Conditions, operate the vehicle under the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Night Vision Camera (NVC) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULES, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replacing the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) corrected the condition.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
