Theory Of Operation

The Panel and Floor Duct Temperature Sensors are negative temperature coefficient thermistor type sensors. The duct temperatures are monitored by the HVAC Module to ensure each temperature door is allowing the correct air temperature to enter the desired zone within the cabin. As the temperature of the sensor decreases, the sensor resistance increases producing a higher voltage on the signal circuit. As the temperature of the sensor increases, the sensor resistance decreases producing a lower voltage on the signal circuit. The HVAC Module provides a sensor ground and a low current, 5-volt signal circuit to the Temperature Sensors.
