Exhaust Muffler: Notes

REMOVAL
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Saturate the clamp nuts with Mopar® Rust Inhibitor and allow 5 minutes for penetration.
1 - Intermediate Pipe to Muffler Bolts 2 - Front Exhaust Isolator 3 - Muffler 4 - Exhaust Clamp 5 - Rear Exhaust Isolators - Loosen the exhaust clamp and disconnect the rear exhaust pipe from the muffler.
- Remove the intermediate pipe to muffler bolts.
- Support the muffler with a jack stand.
- Remove the front exhaust isolator nut.
- Remove rear exhaust isolator bolts.
- Remove the muffler.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
- Check the exhaust system for contact with the body panels. A minimum of 25.4 mm (1.0 in.) is required between the exhaust system components and body/frame parts. Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
- Check the exhaust system leaks. Refer to LEAK TESTING .
