Theory Of Operation

The Powertrain Control Module receives data from the Engine Oil Level/Temperature (EOL) Sensor indicating the current status of the oil level and temperature. The EOL Sensor is a smart device. The EOL sensor uses a contactless ultrasonic measurement principle. The EOL Sensor sends the information to the PCM using a Pulse-Width Modulated (PWM) signal. The PCM receives and records the reading only once per ignition cycle.
