Standard Procedure: Draining

When servicing the cooling system, it is essential that coolant does not drip onto the accessory drive belts or pulleys. Shield the belts with shop towels before working on the cooling system. If coolant contacts the belts or pulleys, flush both with clean water.
WARNING:
Make sure engine cooling system is cool before servicing. Do not remove any clamps or hoses, pressure cap, or open the radiator draincock. When the system is hot and under pressure serious burns from coolant can occur.
NOTE:
DO NOT WASTE reusable coolant. If the solution is clean, drain the coolant into a clean retainer for reuse.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- If equipped, remove the front skid plate. Refer to FRONT SKID PLATE .
- If equipped, remove the front air dam. Refer to AIR DAM, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- If equipped, remove the air reservoir. Refer to RESERVOIR, AIR SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1 - Radiator Draincock 2 - Radiator Drain - Connect a suitable hose to the radiator drain and position a drain pan at the lower passenger side of the radiator.
- Turn the radiator draincock counterclockwise until it stops and allow the radiator to drain.
- Once the system is completely drained, turn the radiator draincock clockwise until closed.
