Diagnostic Test
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECU's) and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
- NOTE: A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs.
- With the scan tool, record and erase the Radio DTCs.
- Cycle the ignition switch from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
- Turn the Radio on and set the volume to 25.
- With the scan tool, read the active Radio DTCs.NOTE:
A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To Next Step.
No
- Perform the appropriate INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to: TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE ANTENNA CONNECTION
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the FM2 Diversity Antenna connector at the back of the Radio.
- Inspect the FM2 Diversity Antenna connections.
Are the Antenna connections clean and secure?
Yes
- Go To Next Step.
No
- Repair the Antenna connection as needed.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE ANTENNA AND CABLE
- Connect the special tool # 9977-6-FM, (Antenna) to the antenna connection on the back of the Radio.
- Make sure one of the front doors is still open.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Radio on.
- With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Replace the Radio in accordance with the Service Information, refer to: RADIO, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To Next Step.
- TEST THE ANTENNA CABLE
- Disconnect the Antenna cable at the base.
- Connect the appropriate Adapter: special tool # 9977-6-1 or special tool # 9977-6-3 to the Antenna cable at the back of the Radio.
- Connect the appropriate Jumper: special tool # 9977-6-4 or special tool # 9977-6-2 to the Antenna cable at the Antenna base.
- Measure the Resistance across the tool terminals.
Is the resistance above 52.5 Ohms?
Yes
- Use the special tool # 9977-6, (Radio Antenna Diagnostic Kit) to locate the open circuit, repair or replace the Antenna cable as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Antenna base in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to: BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
