Liftgate Wire Harness Repair

SINGLE WIRE AND COAX 

This procedure gives detailed instructions on installing single wire or the camera coax into the liftgate. When completed, the new wire will ride around the old wire harness, as illustrated.

1. Remove the associated interior trim for the liftgate. Refer to PANEL, TRIM, LIFTGATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
2. Remove the liftgate. Refer to LIFTGATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Remove the CHMSL. Refer to LAMP, CENTER HIGH MOUNTED STOP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
4. Feed the mechanics wire through the openings to the desired area.
5. Release the wire(s) being serviced from the connectors as needed.
6. Secure the new wire(s) to the mechanics wire with electrical tape.
7. Feed the mechanics wire through the lieftgate until the end of the new wire(s) exits the liftgate.
8. Pull the wire through the grommet and attach the new wire to the original harness connector.
9. Attach the new wire to the original harness connector at the lower harness connector.
10. Support and secure the new wire(s) as needed.
11. If needed, repeat this procedure to replace the coax cable.
12. Install the liftgate. Refer to LIFTGATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
13. Install the CHMSL. Refer to LAMP, CENTER HIGH MOUNTED STOP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
14. Install the interior trim. Refer to PANEL, TRIM, LIFTGATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
