Trailer Lamps

CONDITION	POSSIBLE CAUSES	DIAGNOSIS AND CORRECTION
TRAILER TOW OUTPUT INOPERATIVE	1. Inoperative Fuse. 2. Inoperative or damaged Trailer Wiring or trailer components. 3. Inoperative Power Distribution Center (PDC) relay components.	Check for a related Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). Troubleshoot, repair and retest. NOTE: If the vehicle symptom is a blown fuse that does not immediately fail when replaced, the Power Distribution Center (PDC) and vehicle wiring are not at fault. It is recommended that the customer has the trailer wiring inspected. Replace the fuse. If the fuse fails again, proceed with the following steps: Replace the fuse. Command the relay ON and listen for the audible relay click. Once the click is confirmed, proceed to the next step. If the click is not heard, PDC replacement may be necessary. Load the B+ circuit and then probe the B+ circuit with a test lamp to verify fuse operation. If there is power coming out of the fuse and at the trailer plug on the bumper, then operation is confirmed. The customer should review trailer wiring and trailer components for a short to ground or a circuit in the trailer has to high of load for this design causing fuse to open. Note: Going with a higher rated fuse is not acceptable as the circuit in the wiring harness is designed around fuse. Damage to vehicle wiring may occur.
