Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
Read the HIGH-VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES .
When the HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER-DOWN PROCEDURE is necessary. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE POWER DOWN .

NOTE:
Before performing this diagnostic test, verify that there are no 12 volt charging system or battery voltage low DTCs and repair as necessary. Verify that the 12 volt battery passes a load test. Low 12 volt system voltage will cause this DTC to set.
NOTE:Once this DTC is set, there is an internal 10 minute timer countdown and the vehicle will not start even if the DTC is erased with the scan tool. After this 10 minute time-out the vehicle will start.
- Record the Freeze Frame Data (If available), Event Data (If available), and Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool erase DTCs.
- Press the ignition OFF.
- Remove the scan tool from the DLC.
- Close all doors.
- Perform CAN Bus sleep cycle (wait until cluster display goes blank).
- Press the ignition on.NOTE:
By powering up the HV system with several ignition cycles may damage the internal precharge resistor in the HV Battery pack when this DTC active.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- If scan tool message displays "Internal HV Battery Pack resistor failed." The HV Battery Packs needs to be replaced. Diagnose the cause of resistor failure before replacing HV Battery Packs. Go To 2
- If resistor test passes, do NOT replace the HV Battery Pack. Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .

- CHECK ALL HV FUSES NOTE:
If HV Fuse DTCs are set, perform the appropriate diagnostic test before proceeding.
- Check the PIM and HV Battery Pack fuses for an open.
Are any HV fuses open?
Yes
- Replace the faulty component in accordance with the fuse table above and check related HV wiring for shorts.
- Once the short has been found and repaired, replace PIM fuse or replace the Primary and Secondary High Voltage Battery Packs in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to HV VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform High Voltage Isolation Test and check for shorts in High Voltage circuits or a faulty HV component. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE LOSS OF ISOLATION TEST PROCEDURE .
- Once the short has been found and repaired, replace PIM fuse or replace the Primary and Secondary High Voltage Battery Packs in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to HV VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check the PIM and HV Battery Pack fuses for an open.
