Fuel System Pressure Release
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Use this procedure whether or not the fuel rail is equipped with a fuel pressure test port.
- Remove the Power Distribution Center (PDC) cover from the PDC housing base.
- Remove the fuel pump fuse from the PDC.
- Start and run the engine until it stalls.
- Attempt restarting the engine until it will no longer start.
- Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.CAUTION:
Before separating a Quick-Connect fitting, pay attention to what type of fitting is being used. This will prevent unnecessary fitting or fitting latch breakage.
NOTE:Excessive fuel spillage onto the gaskets can cause gaskets to expand and dislodge from gasket groove.
- Place a rag or towel below the fuel line quick-connect fitting at the fuel rail.
- Disconnect the fuel line quick-connect fitting at the fuel rail and plug with a shipping cap to prevent spillage. Refer to QUICK-CONNECT FITTINGS .
NOTE:
One or more Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) may have been stored in the PCM memory due to disconnecting fuel pump module circuit. A diagnostic scan tool must be used to erase a DTC.
