Theory Of Operation

For the Radio to successfully boot, it requires load cable B+ and Ground along with ignition equal to run bus message. Located within the main connector housing are power, ground, bus circuits and speaker or external amplifier output circuits. Internal to the Radio, a combined AM/FM band receiver, combined Satellite Digital Audio Radio (SDAR) / Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, Cellular receiver, Bluetooth™ and Wifi receivers. At the back of the Radio, receiver jacks (RAL) are color-coded and correspond to a color-coded plug (FAKRA) affixed to the antenna harness coaxial cables. An external Display Screen Module (DSM) projects an image of the multi-media features and accepts user input via the touch screen function. Hands Free commands input occurs via connected Microphones one and two located within the headliner. The DSM and Radio are directly connected by a Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) cable. Based upon audio system options, the Radio may accept inputs from media sources 3.5 millimeter auxiliary (AUX) port, a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port or through wireless Bluetooth™ audio streaming. A base Radio audio output circuits are directly wired to the speakers, while if equipped with an external Amplifier the Radio audio output circuits are directly wired to the amplifier. The Radio monitors itself and each connected circuit for fault criteria. If the fault criteria is met, the Radio will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTC). The Radio may have an internal Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) Module. The ANC module interprets cabin sound and the Amplifier produces sound through the vehicle speakers that cancel engine related frequency within the passenger compartment. The ANC module receives engine speed input via the hard-wired ANC Buffered Crank Position (+) circuit output from the PCM and sensor ground (-). The ANC system is equipped with 4 microphone inputs located within the headliner that monitor for engine related frequencies.
