Rear Output Shaft Seal: Notes

REMOVAL
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Mark the rear driveshaft and flanges for reassembly alignment. Remove the rear driveshaft. Refer to REAR DRIVESHAFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the output flange nut.
1 - Output Flange Nut - Remove the output flange from the transfer case with the O-ring seal.

INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
- Use tool (special tool #9672, Installer, Seal) to install the rear output shaft seal.
- Place the O-ring seal on the output flange and install the flange. Tighten the output flange nut to proper torque specification.
- If necessary, fill the transfer case to the proper fluid level. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
