Exhaust Muffler SWB

REMOVAL 

1. Remove the front belly pan. Refer to FRONT BELLY PAN .
2. Saturate the clamp nuts with Mopar® Rust Inhibitor. Allow 5 minutes for penetration.
3. Remove the impact bracket inner bolts, outer bolts, and the impact bracket.

4. Remove the right catalytic converter to exhaust manifold bolts.

5. Remove the left catalytic convertor to exhaust manifold bolts.

6. Loosen the left and right exhaust muffler clamp nuts.

7. Support the exhaust system with a suitable stand.
8. Remove the left and right exhaust isolator bolts.
9. Separate the left catalytic convertor from the resonator.
10. Separate the right catalytic convertor from the resonator.
    NOTE:

    It is not necessary to remove the ground strap, unless the exhaust isolator is being replaced.

11. Remove the left front exhaust isolator bolts.

12. Remove the left rear exhaust isolator bolt.
13. Remove the right front exhaust isolator bolt.

14. Remove the right rear exhaust isolator bolts.
    NOTE:

    Exhaust muffler removal is a two-person operation.

15. With the help of an assistant, remove the exhaust muffler.

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.

• Make sure the exhaust system is correctly positioned and properly aligned. The minimum clearance between components is 25.4 mm (1 in.). Make the necessary adjustments, if needed.
• Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
