Removal And Installation: Left: Notes

- Remove the intake air tube. Refer to TUBE, INTAKE AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 5.7L .
- Remove the clean air hose. Refer to HOSE, CLEAN AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 5.7L .
- Remove the intermediate shaft. Refer to SHAFT, INTERMEDIATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the left catalytic converter assembly. Refer to CONVERTER, CATALYTIC, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts and the exhaust manifold heat shield.NOTE:
All fasteners must be installed in the same location they were removed from.
- Using the sequence shown, remove the exhaust manifold bolts.
Exhaust Manifold Bolt Sequence - Remove the exhaust manifold and gasket.
- Inspect the exhaust manifold for any damage. Refer to INSPECTION .
- Clean the mating surfaces.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
- Prior to installation, make sure all gasket mating surfaces are clean and free of any debris.
- Position the exhaust manifold gasket and manifold to the cylinder head.NOTE:
All fasteners removed must be installed in the same location they were removed from.
- The exhaust manifold to cylinder head bolts must be tightened in the sequence shown in the torque table below.
- Re-check the torque using the sequence shown.
- Install the exhaust manifold heat shield and tighten the exhaust manifolds heat shield nuts to proper torque specification.CAUTION:
Do not damage engine harness while lowering the engine.
