Intake Manifold: Notes

REMOVAL 

  1. Perform the fuel system pressure release procedure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
  2. Remove the intake air tube. Refer to TUBE, INTAKE AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 5.7L .
  3. Remove the clean air hose. Refer to HOSE, CLEAN AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 5.7L .
  4. Remove the engine cover.
  5. Remove the safety lock and disconnect the fuel supply line quick connect fitting from the fuel rail.

  6. Disconnect the throttle body wire harness connector and detach the wire harness retainer.

  7. Disconnect the right side fuel injectors wire harness connectors.

  8. Disconnect the MAP sensor wire harness connector located at the rear of the intake manifold.

  9. Disconnect the left side fuel injectors wire harness connectors.

  10. Remove the purge solenoid. Refer to SOLENOID, EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS PURGE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  11. Disconnect the make up air hose.

  12. Disengage the wire harness from the rear of the intake manifold.
  13. Using the sequence shown, remove the intake manifold bolts and the intake manifold.

CLEANING: 

NOTE:

There is NO approved repair procedure for the intake manifold. If severe damage is found during inspection, the intake manifold must be replaced.

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
