Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
This vehicle has a Front Tweeter wired in parallel with the Front Speaker.
- Turn the ignition on and open one of the front doors. A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs.
- With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Cycle the ignition from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
- Turn the radio on and set the volume to 25.
- Adjust the speakers to the front and center.
- With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE DRIVER FRONT SPEAKERS
- Make sure one of the front doors is still open.
- With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Drivers Front Door Speaker harness connector.
- Disconnect the Drivers Front Tweeter harness connector from the Drivers Front Tweeter.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the radio on and set the volume to 25.
- With the scan tool, read the Radio DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE DRIVER FRONT SPEAKER
- Make sure one of the front doors is still open.
- With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Re-connect the Drivers Front Tweeter harness connector from the Drivers Front Tweeter.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the radio on and set the volume to 25.
- With the scan tool, read the active Radio DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Drivers Front Tweeter in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to DOOR SPEAKER .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Drivers Front Door Speaker in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to DOOR SPEAKER .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (X153) DRIVER FRONT DOOR SPEAKER (+) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Radio C1 harness connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and the (X153) Drivers Front Door Speaker (+) circuit at the Radio C1 harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (X153) Drivers Front Door Speaker (+) circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (X153) Drivers Front Door Speaker (+) circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- CHECK THE (X155) DRIVER FRONT DOOR SPEAKER (-) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Check for continuity between ground and the (X155) Drivers Front Door Speaker (-) circuit at the Radio C1 harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (X155) Drivers Front Door Speaker (-) circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (X155) Drivers Front Door Speaker (-) for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 6
- Check for continuity between ground and the (X155) Drivers Front Door Speaker (-) circuit at the Radio C1 harness connector.
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all Radio harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions: Proper connector installation. Damaged connector locks. Corrosion. Other signs of water intrusion. Weather seal damage (if equipped). Bent terminals. Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw). Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity. Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension. Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all Radio harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Radio in accordance with the Service information. Refer to RADIO, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
