Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, erase ABS DTCs.
- Activate the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Switch several times.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Cycle the ignition from off to on.
- With the scan tool, read ABS DTCs.
Is the DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK FOR A STUCK ESC SWITCH
- Check the ESC Switch for anything that may cause a sticking condition. Repair if necessary and check if DTC displays stored. If a sticking condition for the ESC Switch is not found, continue testing.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Verify the ESC Switch harness connector is connected properly.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace the ESC Switch in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (B27) TRACTION CONTROL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the ESC Switch harness connector.
- Disconnect the ABS Module harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage between the (B27) Traction Control Switch Sense circuit and ground at the ESC Switch harness connector.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the (B27) Traction Control Switch Sense circuit short.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- CHECK THE (Z937) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Measure the resistance of the (B937) Ground circuit between the ESC Switch harness connector harness connector and the ABS Module harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (B937) Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect the ABS Module harness connector.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions: Proper connector installation. Damaged connector locks. Corrosion. Other signs of water intrusion. Weather seal damage (if equipped). Bent terminals. Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw). Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity. Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension. Repair any conditions that are found.
- Connect the ABS Module harness connector. Be certain that the harness connector is fully seated and the connector lock is fully engaged.
- Connect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Connect the related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read ABS Module DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
