Torque Specifications - Engine Block

ENGINE BLOCK

CALLOUT DESCRIPTION SPECIFICATION COMMENT
1 Connecting Rod Cap Connecting Rod Bolts Torque Procedure: 
  • Step 1 - Tighten bolts to 40 N.m (30 Ft. Lbs.) 
  • Step 2 - Using a torque angle gauge, torque all bolts an additional 90° 
 -
2 Main Bearing Cap to Cylinder Block Bolts Torque Procedure: 
  • Step 1 - Hand tighten all bolts 
  • Step 2 - Tighten bolts to 28 N.m (21 Ft. Lbs.) in sequence 
  • Step 3 - Using a torque angle gauge, torque all bolts an additional 120° in sequence

3 Main Bearing Cap to Cylinder Block Bolts
NOTE:

Torque the main bearing cap bolts before the cross bolts

31 N.m (23 Ft. Lbs.) in sequence 		 Tightening Sequence

4 Piston Oil Cooler Jet to Engine Block Bolt 13 N.m (10 Ft. Lbs.)  -
- Oil Galley Plug (3/8 NPT) 27 N.m (20 Ft. Lbs.)  -
- Coolant Drain Plug (1/4 - 18 NPT) 34 N.m (25 Ft. Lbs.)  -
- Coolant Drain Plug (3/8 NPT) 27 N.m (20 Ft. Lbs.)  -
- Lifter Guide to Cylinder Block Bolts 12 N.m (9 Ft. Lbs.)  -
- Multiple Displacement Solenoid (MDS) to Cylinder Block Bolt 11 N.m (8 Ft. Lbs.)  -
- Multiple Displacement Solenoid (MDS) to Cylinder Block Stud Bolt 11 N.m (8 Ft. Lbs.)  -
- Rear Seal Retainer to Cylinder Bloc Bolts 13 N.m (10 Ft. Lbs.) in sequence  Tightening Sequence
