Engine Oil Change

Change engine oil at mileage and time intervals described in Maintenance Schedules. Refer to 2023, MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES, DESCRIPTION .
Run engine until achieving normal operating temperature.
- Remove the oil fill cap.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Place a suitable drain pan under the crankcase drain.
1 - Drain Plug - Remove the drain plug and allow oil to drain into pan. Inspect drain plug threads for stretching or other damage. Replace drain plug if necessary.
- Install the drain plug and tighten to 34 N.m (25 Ft. Lbs.) .
- Lower vehicle and fill crankcase with specified type and amount of engine oil. Refer to 6.4L ENGINE, CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lightly lubricate the oil fill cap O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
- Install the oil fill cap.
- Start the engine and inspect for leaks.
- Stop the engine and inspect the oil level.
NOTE:
Care should be exercised when disposing used engine oil after it has been drained from a vehicle engine. Refer to the WARNING at beginning of this information.
