Removal And Installation: Installation
- To properly install the seal, use the (special tool #2031400091, Installer, Crank Seal - Rear).
- Start with installing the seal (1) on the alignment guide (2). Make sure that the lip of the seal is not rolled.
- Place the alignment guide with the seal against the back of the engine block as shown in illustration, making sure the seal is aligned properly with the crankshaft and opening in the block.
- Put the installer tool (1) over the alignment guide and flush against the seal.
- Use the Drive Handle Extension (special tool #C-4171, Driver Handle, Universal) to install the seal.
- Verify the lip of the seal is facing the engine and is not rolled outward.
- Install the flexplate. Refer to FLEXPLATE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
