Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL AND CONDITION 
    1. Check the transmission fluid level and condition in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to .

      Is the transmission fluid level correct and appear in good condition?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No, transmission fluid level is low but appears in good condition. 

      • Go To 2

        Refer to  2.

      No, transmission fluid condition is deteriorated. 

  2. FILL THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO THE CORRECT LEVEL 
    1. Correct the transmission fluid level in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to: STANDARD PROCEDURE, 8P75PH Transmission .
    2. Turn the ignition on.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
      NOTE:

      Stop the vehicle and place shifter into PARK position multiple times during the next step.

    4. Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

  3. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

    Did the DTC return?

    Yes 

    • Go To  4

    No 

  4. PERFORM TRANSMISSION ADAPTATION ROUTINE 
    1. Perform the Transmission Adaptation routine in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) ADAPTATION .

      Does the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Refer to  5.

      No 

      • Performing the Transmission Adaptation routine repaired the fault.
  5. REPLACE THE VALVE BODY AND RETEST FOR DTCS 
    1. Replace the valve body in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to: VALVE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 8HP75 Transmission8HP75 Transmission .
    2. Turn the ignition on.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
      NOTE:

      Stop the vehicle and place shifter into PARK position multiple times during the next step.

    4. Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      No
