Diagnostic Test

- CHECK MANUAL PARK RELEASE (MPR) CABLE AND LEVER
- Check MPR Cable and Lever for binding, obstruction, or damage that could cause this condition.
- Check that the system operates smoothly from the lever inside the vehicle.
- Check that the cable is properly routed with no sharp bends or kinks.
- Check the levers at the operator end and transmission ends for any obstructions that could prevent full range of movement.
- If necessary, disconnect the MPR cable from the lever at the transmission to isolate any conditions found.
Is the MPR Cable or Lever binding, obstructed or damaged?
Yes
- Repair MPR Cable or Lever as necessary.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 2
- Check MPR Cable and Lever for binding, obstruction, or damage that could cause this condition.
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.NOTE:
Stop the vehicle and place shifter into PARK position multiple times during the next step.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- REPLACE THE VALVE BODY AND RETEST FOR DTCS
- Replace the valve body in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to:VALVE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 8P75PH .
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.NOTE:
Stop the vehicle and place shifter into PARK position multiple times during the next step.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Transmission in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 8P75PH .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replacing the valve body repaired the fault.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
