Main Battery: Removal

WARNING:
To protect the hands from battery acid, a suitable pair of heavy duty rubber gloves should be worn when removing or servicing a battery. Safety glasses also should be worn.
WARNING:
Remove metallic jewelry to avoid injury by accidental arcing of battery current.
- Position the driver seat fully forward and fully raised.
- Remove the left side second row floor distribution duct. Refer to DUCT, FLOOR DISTRIBUTION, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS). Refer to SENSOR, INTELLIGENT BATTERY (IBS) , REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the negative battery cable(s). Refer to: BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
1 - Positive Battery Cable End Nut 2 - Battery Vent Tube 3 - Battery NOTE:On dual battery systems the positive cable end MUST be isolated.
- Loosen the positive battery cable end nut and remove the positive battery cable.
- Remove the battery vent tube.
1 - Battery Hold-Down Nuts 2 - Battery Hold-Down - Remove the nuts from the battery hold-down. Remove the battery hold-down that secures the battery to the tray.
1 - Battery - Remove the battery from the vehicle.
