Removal And Installation: Transmission: Removal

- Power down the 12-volt system. Refer to 12 VOLT BATTERY DISCONNECT - 2.0L or BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT - 5.7L .
- Power down the high voltage system. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE POWER DOWN .
- Remove the lower cowl extension cover. Refer to SILENCER, COWL EXTENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the transfer case skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1 - Transmission Mount to Transmission Crossmember Nuts - Remove the transmission mount to crossmember nuts.
- Lower the vehicle.
1 - Upper High Pressure Fuel Pump Shield Bolt 2 - High Pressure Fuel Pump Shield Isolator Bolts (Not Removed) 3 - High Pressure Fuel Pump Shield - Raise the transmission mount off of the crossmember using a suitable jack.
- Remove upper high pressure fuel pump shield bolt.
- Remove the transfer case. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION - MPT3015C or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION - MPT3028C .
- Remove the high voltage cable from the transmission. Refer to CABLES, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the high voltage cable brackets from the transmission.
1 - Manual Park Release Cable Bracket Bolts 2 - Manual Park Release Bracket and Cable Assembly 3 - Manual Park Release Cable End - Disconnect the Manual Park Release (MPR) cable from the MPR lever. Remove the MPR cable bracket to transmission bolts and position the cable aside.
1 - Transmission Wire Harness Connector - Disconnect the 13-pin transmission wire connector. Turn the connector counter-clockwise to release.
- Disconnect the Integrated Electric Oil Pump (IEP) wire harness connector.
1 - High Voltage Harness Trough Double Ended Stud 2 - Coolant Line Retainer Nut 3 - Coolant Line Retainer 4 - High Voltage Harness Trough Double Ended Stud - Remove the coolant line retainer nut.
- Remove the double ended studs that secure the Motor Generator Unit (MGU) harness trough to the transmission and position the wiring aside.
- Remove the transfer case wiring trough bolts and position the wiring aside.
1 - Front Transmission Oil Cooler Line Bracket to Engine Oil Pan Bolt 2 - Rear Transmission Oil Cooler Line Bracket Bolt to Engine Oil Pan Bolt 3 - Transmission Oil Cooler Thermal Bypass Valve - Remove the transmission oil cooler line bracket to engine bolts.
1 - Transmission Oil Cooler Line to Transmission Bolt 2 - Transmission Oil Cooler line Quick Connect Fitting 3 - Transmission Oil Cooler Line Bundle - Disconnect the transmission cooler line bundle from the transmission.
- Disconnect the resolver harness connector.
- Disconnect the P2 temperature sensor harness connector.
- Remove all remaining wiring harness retainers from the transmission.
- Disconnect transmission vent hose.
1 - Exhaust Bracket 2 - Exhaust Bracket Nuts 3 - Exhaust Bracket Bolts - Remove the exhaust bracket.
- Remove the high pressure fuel pump shield nuts and shield.
1 - Engine Block to Bellhousing Bolts (Double Ended Studs) 2 - Engine Oil Pan to Bellhousing Bolts NOTE:Be careful not to damage the engine oil pan when using the stand. Use a rubber or wood block between the pan and the stand to support the engine.
- Support engine with a suitable stand before removing transmission.
- Remove the transmission to engine fasteners.
- Secure the transmission to a suitable jack.
- Carefully maneuver the transmission rearward off of the engine block dowels and remove the assembly.NOTE:
Be careful not to damage or bend the external transmission oil lines.
