DESCRIPTION
Orange is the warning color used to identify high voltage parts. These warning labels are attached to the high-voltage battery pack.
When performing any repairs that involve contact with high voltage components or systems, the technician performing repairs on the vehicle must verify that the system remains powered down during high voltage repairs.
- This must be done by removing the service disconnect or high voltage disabling device or high voltage disabling device.
- The high voltage power down procedure must also be performed to ensure that the vehicle is properly powered down.
- The technician must know the whereabouts of the service disconnect or high voltage disabling device or high voltage disabling device throughout the repair.
- The technician must ensure that no one reconnects the service disconnect or high voltage disabling device or high voltage disabling device while service is being performed.
- The technician must recheck that the service disconnect or high voltage disabling device or high voltage disabling device has not been reinstalled in cases where the vehicle was unattended.
Failure to comply with all these warnings may result in personal injury including burn, shock, or fatal injury.
Before performing any diagnostic or service procedure, you must thoroughly read and follow all applicable high voltage safety procedures. You must perform the high voltage power down procedures.
Loss of Isolation (LOI) must be performed before high voltage power up in cases where service has been performed on a high-voltage component or when diagnosing a LOI condition.
Be sure to use the proper safety equipment when working on any high voltage system or component. Failure to do so may result in serious or fatal injury.
Wait a minimum of two minutes after performing the high voltage battery disconnect procedure before attempting to access the high voltage system. Failure to do so may result in serious or fatal injury.

Listed below are the features and components of the 8P75PH transmission:
- The 8P75PH is an electronic eight-speed automatic transmission. Eight speeds allow the engine to maintain its optimal rpm range, increasing fuel economy and performance.
- The 8P75HP is a hybrid 8 speed electronically controlled transmission with an integrated 90 kilowatt Electric Motor.
- The Electric Motor operation is controlled by the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP).
- The transmission is capable of operating either gas engine or electric mode.
- The transmission case is a single-piece unit.
- The high voltage wires enter the transmission at the left front of the case.
- The transmission wire harness connector and oil fill plug are located on the passenger side of the case.
- The two-wheel drive model uses a flanged output shaft connection while the four-wheel drive model uses a sealed, externally splined output shaft to form a dry connection between the adapter plate and the transfer case.
- Transmission control is performed by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) based on hard-wired and Controller Area Network (CAN) bus signals from sensors and modules.
- The TCM is integrated into the valve body and is called the Transmission Control Module Assembly (TCMA).
- The TCMA includes a mounting plate that holds the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and a molded wiring harness for connection to various transmission sensors and solenoids.
- The TCMA contains all the sensors and solenoids required for operation, completely inside the transmission.
- The TCMA provides fully synchronized clutch-to-clutch shifting through four planetary gear sets.
- The TCM receives driveability data from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and other modules over the CAN-Chassis (CAN-C) bus.
- The TCM also receives shift lever position information from the Electronic Shift Module (ESM) over a dedicated transmission CAN bus.
- The TCM processes this input data and controls operation of the torque converter clutch, park lock system, solenoid valves, and pressure regulating valve.
- The input and output speed sensors are Hall-effect sensors that measure shaft rotational speed.
- The input speed sensor is located at the top, near the center, of the of the TCMA and reads input shaft speed from the magnetic ring on the P2 carrier.
- The output speed sensor is located at the back of the TCMA and reads output shaft speed from the P4 carrier.
