Transmission Oil Cooler: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. If equipped, remove the active grill shutter. Refer to GRILLE, ACTIVE SHUTTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION - 2.0L or BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 5.7L .
    NOTE:

    Clean any transmission fluid the may have leaked out during the removal process.

    1 - Transmission Oil Cooler
    2 - Transmission Oil Cooler Lines
    NOTE:

    Plug and seal the ends of the transmission oil cooler and the transmission oil cooler lines to prevent leakage of oil, or moisture, contaminates, or impurities from entering into the system.

  4. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines from the transmission oil cooler using (special tool #9546, Disconnect Tool).

    1 - Radiator Closeout Seals
    2 - Radiator Closeout Seal Fasteners
  5. Remove the left and right side radiator closeout seal fasteners and remove the seals.

    1 - Radiator Core Support Braces
    2 - Radiator Core Support Brace Fasteners
  6. Remove the core support brace bolts and remove the braces.

    1 - Transmission Oil Cooler
    2 - Transmission Oil Cooler Bolt
    3 - Transmission Oil Cooler Retention Tabs
  7. Remove the transmission oil cooler bolt.
  8. Release the transmission oil cooler retention tabs and remove the transmission oil cooler.
