Diagnostic Test

READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECU) s and record on the repair order.
2. For future reference, with the scan tool, run and save a vehicle Scan Report and all recorded data.
3. With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
4. Run the engine for at least 60 seconds, park the vehicle, and allow it to sit with the ignition off for at least 8.5 hours.
5. With the ambient air temperature between 40 degrees and 100 degrees (Fahrenheit), turn the ignition on.
6. With the scan tool, read Powertrain Control Module (PCM) DTCs.
  Did the DTC return?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - Perform the appropriate INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
1. Refer to the recorded DTCs.
  Are there any voltage, cranking, starting or loss of communication DTCs present?
  
  Yes
  - Perform the applicable diagnostic procedure(s). Refer to: DTC INDEX (1 OF 3) and/or DTC INDEX (2 OF 3) and/or DTC INDEX (3 OF 3) .
  No
  - Go To 3
REPLACE PCM AND RETEST FOR DTCS
1. If this DTC is present, replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
2. Park the vehicle and allow it to sit with the ignition off for 8.5 hours.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. With the scan tool, read Powertrain Control Module (PCM) DTCs.
  Did the DTC return?
  
  Yes
  - Replace the Body Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL (BCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Repair is complete. The Powertrain Control Module fixed the vehicle.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
