Rear Output Shaft Seal: Installation

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.

Use tool (special tool #9672, Installer, Seal) to install the rear output shaft seal.
Place the O-ring seal on the output flange and install the flange. Tighten the output flange nut to proper torque specification.
If necessary, fill the transfer case to the proper fluid level. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
