Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

Read the HIGH-VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES

When the HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER-DOWN PROCEDURE is necessary. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE POWER DOWN .

NOTE:
If this DTC has set after flashing any module with the engine running (such as IPC or RFHUB), key OFF the vehicle, then start the vehicle and let idle for 15 minutes post flash and the State Of Charge (SOC) will reset within normal range. The state of Charge can be monitored with the scan tool via BPCM; the normal range is 40-70%. The DTC can then be cleared. Turning on 12 Volt loads (headlights, HVAC blower, etc.) will speed up the process as the DC/DC pulls energy from the 12 volt system. Avoid flashing any modules with the engine running to avoid this condition. Always use a battery charger for module flashing.
1. With the scan tool, read Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) DTCs and record on the repair order.
2. Record the Freeze Frame Data (If available), Event Data (If available), and Environmental Data.
3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
4. Using the recorded data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
5. With the scan tool, read HCP DTCs.
  Did the DTC return?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
CHECK FOR BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) DTCS
1. With the scan tool, read Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
  Are there any cell voltage high (2 or more) or Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage Sense (1 to 6) Out of Range High BPCM DTCs set?
  
  Yes
  - Repair the BPCM DTCs. Refer to: BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) - DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
  No
  - Replace the Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) in accordance with the Service information. Refer to MODULES, HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
