Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must carry out the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
Read the HIGH-VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES
When the HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER-DOWN PROCEDURE is necessary. Refer to HIGH VOLTAGE POWER DOWN .
NOTE:An external Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) key (and/or pass/radio key), such as one used to gain access to a 24 hour gym, can cause this DTC to set and create a no start condition. Inspect the customer's key chain for any type of RFID key. If one is not found, ask the customer to check if a spare key chain has this RFID key on it or if it was removed from the original key chain before the vehicle was released for service. If a RFID key is present, remove the ignition key from the vehicle and remove the RFID key from the key chain.
- With the scan tool, read Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Freeze Frame Data (If available), Event Data (If available), and Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read HCP DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK FOR ANY CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) DTCS AND DTCS IN THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM), POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM), AND RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) HUB
- With the scan tool, check for any CAN DTCs and check for any Theft Deterrent related DTCs in the BCM, PCM, or RF Hub. Especially the following HCP DTCs: P0601, P0603, P0604, P0605, P0606, P060C, P062F, P16F0, P16F9. BCM DTCs: U1514-64, U1514-87, U0293, U0100 and U1818. ECM DTCs: P0633, P16FA, P0513, U0293 and U1817
Are any related CAN, BCM, PCM, or RF Hub DTCs set?
Yes
- Repair DTCs in accordance with the appropriate Diagnostic Information.
- Perform the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to HYBRID CONTROL PROCESSOR (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- With the scan tool, check for any CAN DTCs and check for any Theft Deterrent related DTCs in the BCM, PCM, or RF Hub. Especially the following HCP DTCs: P0601, P0603, P0604, P0605, P0606, P060C, P062F, P16F0, P16F9. BCM DTCs: U1514-64, U1514-87, U0293, U0100 and U1818. ECM DTCs: P0633, P16FA, P0513, U0293 and U1817
- CHECK FOR ANY IGNITION RUN/START DTCS IN THE HCP
- With the scan tool, check for any Ignition Run/Start DTCS in the HCP such as P2534 and P2535.
Is P2534 or P2535 DTCs active?
Yes
- Repair DTCs in accordance with the appropriate Diagnostic Information.
- Perform the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to HYBRID CONTROL PROCESSOR (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- With the scan tool, check for any Ignition Run/Start DTCS in the HCP such as P2534 and P2535.
- CHECK THE FOBS NOTE:
All FOB's that are used on this vehicle must be available to perform this test.
- Use each FOB, one at a time, to attempt to start the vehicle with all others not in use at least 10 feet from the vehicle.
- With the scan tool, check for any FOB related DTCs in the BCM, PCM, or RF Hub.
Are there any related BCM, PCM, or RF Hub DTCs set?
Yes
- Repair the DTCs in accordance with the appropriate Diagnostic Information.
- Perform the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to HYBRID CONTROL PROCESSOR (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- CHECK PROGRAMMED VIN IN EACH MODULE
- With the scan tool, check all of the modules for the correct VIN.
Do all of the modules have the correct VIN programmed?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Program the modules with the correct VIN in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to HYBRID CONTROL PROCESSOR (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST .
- With the scan tool, check all of the modules for the correct VIN.
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all PIM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all PIM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read HCP DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the PIM in accordance with the Service information. Refer to MODULES, HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to HYBRID CONTROL PROCESSOR (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to HYBRID CONTROL PROCESSOR (HCP) VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
