CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR

- The CMP sensor is located on the front timing cover.
- There is a metal tone wheel incorporated with the cam phaser. The tone wheel has holes spaced around the tone wheel to indicate camshaft position.
- The CMP sensor is hall effect sensor that varies the 5.0 volt signal high and low as the holes in the tone wheel pass by the sensor.
