Catalytic Converter: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the right side front two battery skid plate bolts.
  2. Remove the left side front two battery skid plate bolts.
  3. Remove the PHEV front skid plate brace. Refer to PLATE, SKID, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the PHEV transmission crossmember support. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  5. Remove the transmission mount to crossmember nuts.
  6. Remove the exhaust pipe. Refer to: 2.0L ENGINE - PIPE, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Support the transmission with suitable jack.
  8. Remove the bolts and the transmission support bracket.
  9. Lower the transmission.
  10. Remove the transmission cooler lines from transmission and lower the lines. Refer to 8HP50/850RE - TUBES AND HOSES, TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or 8HP75 - TUBES AND HOSES, TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or 8P75PH - TUBES AND HOSES, TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  11. Remove the catalytic converter support bracket bolts.

  12. Remove the catalytic converter support bracket nuts and the catalytic converter support bracket.
  13. Remove the sway bar heat shield fastener and the sway bar heat shield.
  14. Remove the cowl cover silencer. Refer to SILENCER, COWL EXTENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  15. Remove the engine cover. Refer to 2.0L ENGINE - COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  16. Remove the coolant line nut at the turbocharger and reposition the coolant line.
  17. Remove the upstream oxygen sensor. Refer to 2.0L ENGINE - ENGINE SENSORS, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  18. Remove the upper turbocharger heat shield bolts and the upper turbocharger heat shield.
  19. Remove the two upper EGR tube nuts and position away.
  20. Disconnect the downstream oxygen sensor wire harness connector.
  21. If equipped, remove the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor. Refer to SENSOR, EXHAUST TEMPERATURE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  22. If equipped, disconnect the differential pressure sensor hoses.

  23. Loosen the catalytic converter to turbocharger exhaust clamp bolt and position aside the exhaust clamp.
  24. Remove the stiffening plate. Refer to: 2.0L ENGINE - PLATE, STIFFENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  25. Raise and support the vehicle.
