Manifold, Exhaust: Installation

  1. Install a NEW  exhaust manifold gasket DO NOT APPLY SEALER  .
  2. Install the exhaust maniverter and tighten the NEW  bolts and nuts finger tight.
  3. Using the sequence shown in illustration, tighten the bolts and nuts to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  4. Install the heat shield (2) and tighten the three nuts to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Install the lower heat shield bolts (3) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  6. Connect the downstream oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1).
  7. Connect the upstream oxygen sensor wire harness connector (2) and attach the wire to the retainers (3).
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  9. Install the maniverter lower support bracket and tighten the three bolts to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  10. Using a NEW  gasket, connect the exhaust crossunder pipe (2) to the maniverter outlet flange and tighten the two bolts (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Install the bolt (3) securing the crossunder pipe to transmission and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  12. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, INSTALLATION .
  13. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

  14. Install the engine cover (1).
  15. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
