Crankshaft Sprocket

  1. Remove the timing chain cover. Refer to COVER(S), ENGINE TIMING, REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the cam chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, REMOVAL  .
  3. Remove the oil pump drive chain tensioner shoe. Refer to TENSIONER, ENGINE TIMING, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the oil pump drive chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, REMOVAL  .

  5. Pull the crankshaft sprocket (1) from the engine crankshaft.

  6. Verify that the rear friction shim (1) was removed with the crankshaft sprocket.

  7. Check integrity of the Woodruff keys (1).
