Balance Shaft Sprocket

  1. Remove the timing chain cover. Refer to COVER(S), ENGINE TIMING, REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the cam chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, REMOVAL  .
  3. Remove the oil pump drive chain tensioner shoe. Refer to TENSIONER, ENGINE TIMING, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the oil pump drive chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, REMOVAL  .

  5. Insert the shorter of the two (special tool #2027101090, Alignment Pins, Balance Shaft) (4) through the balance shaft mount to hold the sprocket. Remove the bolt (3), washer (2) and the balance shaft sprocket (1).
