Oil Pump Sprocket

  1. Install the oil pump sprocket friction shim (1) on the oil pump driveshaft.

  2. Install the engine oil pump sprocket (1a) on the oil pump driveshaft. Use the (special tool #6958, Wrench, Spanner) to hold the sprocket and tighten the bolt (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the oil pump drive chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, INSTALLATION  .
  4. Install the oil pump drive chain tensioner shoe. Refer to TENSIONER, ENGINE TIMING, INSTALLATION .
  5. Install the cam chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, INSTALLATION  .
  6. Install the timing chain cover. Refer to COVER(S), ENGINE TIMING, INSTALLATION .
  7. If removed, install the oil filter and fill the engine crankcase with the proper oil to the correct level. Refer to ENGINE OIL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  8. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check the cooling system for correct fluid level.
