Crankshaft Sprocket

  1. Install the Woodruff keys (1).

    NOTE:

    There is a friction shim (1) attached to the front and rear of the crankshaft sprocket.

  2. Verify that the friction shim (1) is in position on the back of the crankshaft sprocket.

  3. Install the crankshaft sprocket engaging the Woodruff keys on the engine crankshaft.
  4. Verify that the friction shim (1) is in position on the front of the crankshaft sprocket.
  5. Install the oil pump drive chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, INSTALLATION  .
  6. Install the oil pump drive chain tensioner shoe. Refer to TENSIONER, ENGINE TIMING, INSTALLATION .
  7. Install the cam chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, INSTALLATION  .
  8. Install the timing chain cover. Refer to COVER(S), ENGINE TIMING, INSTALLATION .
  9. If removed, install the oil filter and fill the engine crankcase with the proper oil to the correct level. Refer to ENGINE OIL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  10. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check the cooling system for correct fluid level.
