Balance Shaft Sprocket

  1. Install the balance shaft sprocket (1), washer (2) and bolt (3) on the right balance shaft.
  2. Insert the shorter of the two (special tool #2027101090, Alignment Pins, Balance Shaft) (4) through the balance shaft mount to hold the sprocket and tighten the bolt (3) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install the oil pump drive chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, INSTALLATION  .
  4. Install the oil pump drive chain tensioner shoe. Refer to TENSIONER, ENGINE TIMING, INSTALLATION .
  5. Install the cam chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, INSTALLATION  .
  6. Install the timing chain cover. Refer to COVER(S), ENGINE TIMING, INSTALLATION .
  7. If removed, install the oil filter and fill the engine crankcase with the proper oil to the correct level. Refer to ENGINE OIL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  8. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check the cooling system for correct fluid level.
