Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. NOTE: A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs. 
    4. With the scan tool, record and erase the Radio DTCs.
    5. Cycle the ignition switch from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
    6. Turn the Radio on and set the volume to 25.
    7. Adjust the speakers to the front and center.
    8. With the scan tool, read the active Radio DTCs.
    NOTE:

    A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs.

    Did the DTC return?

    Yes 

    • Go To  2

    No 

  2. CHECK THE CABLE CONNECTION AT THE RADIO 
    1. Check the AUX port, USB port and SD slot for damage or debris inside the ports and device connectors that can cause concerns with system operation.
    2. Use a known good compatible device that works on another same kind system when testing for concerns.
    3. Verify that no other devices are connected to the system during testing.
    4. he Media hub (with USB, AUX, SD slot) can be serviced separately from the radio.
    5. Turn the ignition off.
    6. Inspect the connectors at the radio and Media Hub.

      Are The connections secure and undamaged?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Repair the cable connection as needed.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK THE MEDIA HUB CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN. 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Radio C1 harness connector and the Media hub connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the:
      • (X486) Aux Audio Left circuit between the Radio C1 harness connector and the Media Hub connector.
      • (X487) Aux Audio Right circuit between the Radio C1 harness connector and the Media Hub connector.
      • (X488) Aux Audio Reference circuit between the Radio C1 harness connector and the Media Hub connector.
      • (X489) Aux Connection Detect circuit between the Radio C1 harness connector and the Media Hub connector.

      Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms on all circuits?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Repair the open circuit that failed the test.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
