Upper Oil Pan - TRAILHAWK

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the oil dipstick tube. Refer to DIPSTICK TUBE, ENGINE OIL, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the oil filter and drain the engine oil. Refer to ENGINE OIL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. Remove the cross under pipe. Refer to PIPE, EXHAUST CROSSUNDER, REMOVAL .

  5. Remove the two bolts (2) from the electric vacuum pump mounting bracket and reposition the vacuum pump (1) away from the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) bracket.

  6. Remove the following bolts and remove the PTU support bracket (1):
    • Oil pan bolt (4).
    • Two engine block bolts (2).
    • Four PTU bolts (3).

  7. Remove the four screw covers (1).

  8. Remove the four oil pan to transmission bolts (1).

  9. Remove the seventeen oil pan to crankcase bolts (1).

  10. Use a suitable tool at the four indicated pry points to release the oil pan from the sealant.

  11. Remove the oil supply and return seal (2) from the oil pan flange.
  12. Remove sealant residues (1) from the oil pan flange and check the integrity of the locating dowels.
  13. Remove sealant residues from the lower engine crankcase flange.
