Exhaust (#1) Camshaft Position Sensor

The Camshaft Position (CMP) sensors are located at the rear of the cylinder head and are bolted to the cylinder head.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine coolant manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, COOLANT, REMOVAL .

  3. Remove the nut (1) and the CMP sensor heat shield (2).

  4. Unlock and disconnect the CMP sensor wire harness connector (1).

  5. Remove the stud bolt (2) and the CMP sensor (1) from the cylinder head
