Diagnostic Test
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
- NOTE: A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs.
- With the scan tool, record and erase the Radio DTCs.
- With the scan tool, perform the Reset ECU function under the Guided Diagnostics menu.
- Cycle the ignition switch from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
- Turn the Radio on and set the volume to 25.
- With the scan tool, read the active Radio DTCs.NOTE:
A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the appropriate INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE VEHICLE CONFIGURATION
- CHECK THE (J220) LVDS / COAX CABLE CONNECTION AT THE REAR CAMERA MODULE
- Previous Step Refer to 2.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Inspect the cable connection at the Rear Camera Module.
Is the cable connection secure and undamaged?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the cable connection as needed.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (J220) LVDS / COAX CABLE CONNECTION AT THE RADIO
- Inspect the cable connection at the rear of the Radio.
Is the video cable connection secure and undamaged?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the video cable connection as needed.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Inspect the cable connection at the rear of the Radio.
- TEST THE (J220) LVDS / COAX CABLE
- Connect the (special tool #9977-6-8, Adapter, RG-174 Coax Cable) between the Radio and Rear Camera Module.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- With the scan tool, perform the Reset ECU function under the Guided Diagnostics menu.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Replace the Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) Video Cable in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- TEST THE RADIO NOTE:
To continue with this test, you must secure a Known Good Radio.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect a known good Radio to the LVDS cable.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- With the scan tool, perform the Reset ECU function under the Guided Diagnostics menu.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Replace the Rear Camera Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to CAMERA, REAR INTERIOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 7
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all Radio harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Presence of foreign conductive materials on connector pins and terminals.
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all Radio harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- With the scan tool, perform the Reset ECU function under the Guided Diagnostics menu.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Radio in accordance with the Service information. Refer to RADIO, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
- CHECK THE (J228) LVDS / COAX CABLE CONNECTION AT THE CENTRAL VISION PARK ASSIST MODULE (CVPAM)
- Previous Step Refer to 2.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Inspect the cable connection at the CVPAM.
Is the cable connection secure and undamaged?
Yes
- Go To 9
No
- Repair the cable connection as needed.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (J228) LVDS / COAX CABLE CONNECTION AT THE RADIO
- Inspect the cable connection at the rear of the Radio.
Is the video cable connection secure and undamaged?
Yes
- Go To 10
No
- Repair the video cable connection as needed.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Inspect the cable connection at the rear of the Radio.
- TEST THE (J228) LVDS / COAX CABLE
- Connect the (special tool #9977-6-8, Adapter, RG-174 Coax Cable) between the Radio and Rear Camera Module.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- With the scan tool, perform the Reset ECU function under the Guided Diagnostics menu.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 11
No
- Replace the Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) Video Cable in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- TEST THE RADIO NOTE:
To continue with this test, you must secure a Known Good Radio.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect a known good Radio to the LVDS cable.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- With the scan tool, perform the Reset ECU function under the Guided Diagnostics menu.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Replace the Central Vision Park Assist Module in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 12
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all Radio harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.

- With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Radio in accordance with the Service information. Refer to RADIO, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
