The engine oil pressure sensor is mounted on the oil cooler adapter. The sensor provides an output voltage to the PCM that corresponds to the engine oil pressure. Under certain operating conditions, for example low oil pressure, it may be necessary for the PCM to increase the engine idle speed to ensue adequate engine lubrication.
The engine oil pressure sensor is a single wire sensor with a threaded pressure port. The pressure port is mounted to the oil cooler adapter housing through an access hole. An aluminum seal ring seals the engine oil pressure sensor to the oil cooler adapter housing.
