Lubrication System
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Gerotor type pump, gear driven from crankshaft.
- The oil filter/oil cooler housing is mounted on the left side of the engine block.
- Oil is circulated from the oil pump through oil/water cooler to the oil filter to the oil gallery feeding the timing chain tensioner, cylinder head, oil jets, crankshaft bearings, rod bearings and the turbocharger. The maximum oil temperature measured in the oil pan under continuous operating conditions should not exceed 135° C (275° F). The oil cooler maintains a maximum oil temperature of 140° C (284° F).
- The right cylinder head supplies oil to the timing chain oil jet, cam bearings, vacuum pump, and fuel injection pump.
- The left cylinder head supplies oil to the timing chain oil jet, and cam bearings.
NOTE:
Before checking the engine oil level turn the engine off and wait 5 minutes for the oil to return to the oil pan.
