Checking Crankshaft End Play

  1. Mount a dial indicator to a stationary point at rear of engine. Locate the probe perpendicular against the rear of the crankshaft.
  2. Move the crankshaft all the way to the front of its travel.
  3. Zero the dial indicator.
  4. Move the crankshaft all the way to the rear of it's travel and record the reading on the dial indicator. For crankshaft end play clearances refer to the engine specification chart. Refer to ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS DIESEL .
