Diagnostic Test

- CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL
- Check the transmission fluid level in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to CHECK FLUID LEVEL
.
Is the transmission fluid at the correct level?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Correct the transmission fluid level.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 8HP50/850RE TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check the transmission fluid level in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to CHECK FLUID LEVEL

- CHECK THE TRANSMISSION COOLING SYSTEM CONDITION
- Inspect the transmission cooling system for damage and proper operation.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair the transmission cooling system.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 8HP50/850RE TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- Inspect the transmission cooling system for damage and proper operation.
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the TCM connector and all related in-line connector terminals for corrosion, damage, or pushed out terminals. Pay particular attention to the power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace and program the TCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL (TCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 8HP50/850RE TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
