Cylinder Compression Test

  1. Warm up the engine to operating temperature (approximately 80 °C, 176 °F).
  2. Shut the engine off.
  3. Disable the low pressure fuel pump.
  4. Remove the fuel injector. Refer to INJECTOR(S), FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Crank the engine several times with the starter to eliminate combustion residues in the cylinders.
  6. Insert the (special tool #VM.10357, Adapter, Compression Test) (3) into fuel injector hole of cylinder to be tested. Install fuel injector clamp (1), bolt (2) and securely tighten.
  7. Test compression pressure by cranking engine with starter for at least 8 revolutions.

    Cylinder Compression 21 - 25 Bar (304 - 362 psi) 5 Bar (73 psi)
  8. Carry out the test procedure at the remaining cylinders in the same way.
  9. Remove the (special tool #VM.10357, Adapter, Compression Test) from cylinder head.
  10. Install the fuel injector. Refer to INJECTOR(S), FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
