Diagnostic Test

- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR THE DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- For future reference, run and save a vehicle Scan Report and all related recorded data.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 75.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the When Monitored and Set Conditions above and recorded data, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
Is DTC U02A2 active or pending?
Yes
- Perform the applicable diagnostic procedure(s). Refer to DTC INDEX (1 OF 2) and/or DTC INDEX (2 OF 2) .
No
- Go To 3
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
- CHECK THE CHARGING SYSTEM AND BATTERY FOR PROPER VOLTAGE AND OPERATION
- Check the Batteries and charging system for proper system voltage and operation.
Is the system voltage normal?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Diagnose and repair the Batteries and charging system before continuing.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 3.0L, POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check the Batteries and charging system for proper system voltage and operation.
- CHECK THE DEF QUALITY SENSOR POWER AND GROUND CIRCUITS FOR PROPER OPERATION
- Turn the ignition on, engine not running.
- Disconnect the DEF Quality Sensor harness connector.
- Measure the voltage across the ASD Fused Relay (F343) Output circuit and the Ground circuit at the DEF Quality Sensor harness connector.
Does the voltage read within 1.0 volt of Battery voltage?
Yes
- Replace the DEF Quality Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 3.0L, POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- CHECK THE ASD FUSED RELAY (F343) OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
- Leave the ignition on, engine not running.
- Measure for voltage between ground and the ASD Fused Relay (F343) Output circuit at the DEF Quality Sensor harness connector.
Does the voltage read within 1.0 volt of Battery voltage?
Yes
- Repair the Ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 3.0L, POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repair the ASD Fused Relay (F343) Output circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 3.0L, POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
